The elders were asked about shamans as part of this project. They explained that in the past, shamans were very sensitive and powerful. Shamans were said to practice irnaliuqtuq or healing and making one better.
Many elders recounted stories of Kakooteenik and the abandoned children who became Thunder and Lightening. This powerful shaman is said to have built this Thunder House in honor or for those children.
