August 14th, 2004Today I met Ericka Chemko and Ken Swayze. There were 9 people going to Iglutalik and today I had a lot of fun with everyone, mostly with Sandy and Kaylie.
August 15th, 2004This morning I went to Iglutalik, and I saw 4 tent rings, bones, and one human skull, then we went to go have lunch. After lunch we went to the other side. Then we saw some more caribou bones, whale bones, fish bones and another human skull and more tent rings.
August 16th, 2004Today I tied to go across the land but it was too watery so we went more up the land we went further and we fund a cache and we saw a really old caribou inside the cache. This moring we went to Iglutalik and saw 2 tent rings and some old caribou bones.
August 17th, 2004Today we went to Netsilik River and me, Sandy and Kaylie stepped in mud [frost boil] and we got stuck for really long and we started really laughing because we kept almost falling. Then Sandy fall on one side of her boot came off and we stating laughing more and then Ben took them out of the mud then Ben took mine out then he told me we had to dive the Honda...went to the cabin and then we went to everyone at the thunder house. I saw some bones and I saw human jaw and some tent rings, caches and a qammaq and eventually went back to the cabin and had supper.
August 18th, 2004Today I saw a lot of tent rings and caches and bones and a grave with some bones and a human skull there were rocks around it and the caribou skin was gone. And today I saw a house or something and a stack of rocks to dry pipsii, dried fish.
August 19th, 2004This morning I saw a lot of caches and tent rings and some graves with some bones in them and I saw one skull and something I dont know what was it but it had lots of rocks around it and it was big and I saw something like a chelter and a thunder house in Iglutalik. And some of the graves were empty. Oh and the thunder house was on the side...something was on the side of the hill too and the other tent rings were on the top too adn the grave. I saw something like double grave for two people I think they were related. I think they chose Iglutalik because there was a river not that far from their camp and it was a nice view too.
August 19th, 2004For the past few days I am having a lot of fun because I am with my best friends Sandy and Kaylie and I can't stop laughing from Sandy. I even laugh from her wehn I just wake up and when I'm even going to bed. I only laugh every few minutes from her and its lots of fun when I go anywhere with them.
August 20th, 2004Today we went not far from camp with a lot of elders. We had tea and some munchies then they started talking about really old stories then we went to the thunder house and they were talking about who made it and it was my nest friend Sandy's great, great, great, grandfather and then we went back to the tent and there they started talking...stories again and then we start having supper and I think Uviluq Ittunga saw the seal first and then Pete, Ben and Qilluniq went to go hunt it and Ben caught it. We were near the river and the boys were going up the river and some of the elders had seal and then we went back to the cabin and the elders went back to town.
August 21st, 2004Today I went to Netsilik by boat and I picked up some berries and saw some bones and start lazing around and taking a nap and I walking around and talking, and I saw some tent rings and caches, and their was a caribou in one caches and where we were Niveuvaq was to live or born. [Niveuvaq is the oldest Elder in Taloyoak - one of the last living women to have facial tattoos]
August 22nd, 2004Today we never went far from camp and we were looking for a white rock and Ericka found it and we were going where Ken wanted to take pictures of the tent rings and caches because he couldn't take pictures on the first few days because it was raining for a few days and then we went to go have lunch and cleaned up the cabin and took some food for our family.
