I really enjoyed my project that I did with Peggy Etunga and David Pelly. We started out by interviewing elders. We interviewed 7 elders about Netsilik and Netsilik river.
The thing that most interested me was that a lot of people lived and hunted around Netsilik Lake. This is why there were a lot of legends and stories that happened there. We got to travel to Netsilik with the elders for a day. It was so amazing because when we went there was a seal (Nattik) that was swimming up the river going to the lake. We also got to see the Kadluk [thunder] house.
I am a lot more aware of my surroundings when I'm out camping. And now I understand how and why things are, out on the land. My hope is to do another project similar to this one next year.
